PLAYER GUIDE / 04

Less flurry.
More timing.

Your first improvement is usually one better decision between punches.

Start with the jab

Walk into range, throw a single jab, then move back out. Repeat until you can tell when it reaches. Throwing while too far away still spends stamina, so a miss can make your next exchange harder.

Practice goal: land three separate jabs without following them with a frantic combination.

Read high and low

A high guard does not cover body punches. Change your guard to match the incoming target and avoid holding it forever: guarding stops stamina regeneration. A jab can retain partial protection, but power punches commit you through their recovery.

Practice goal: block an attack, create space and release guard before you reply.

Wait for the opening

An opponent committed to a power punch cannot immediately restore full guard. Use movement to make the attack miss, then answer while they recover. Start with one response; add a second punch only when you still have range and stamina.

Practice goal: win an exchange with one timed reply rather than the longest sequence.

Keep a reserve

Power shots cost more than jabs. Emptying the stamina bar can leave you with no useful reply. Use short attacks, leave range, and allow recovery with your guard released when safe.

Ahead on health near the bell? You do not need a knockout. The higher remaining health wins when the 75 seconds expire.

Give the next round one job

After a loss, choose one change: fewer missed punches, better body defence, or earlier exits. Keep the same fighter while you test it. You will learn more from a clear adjustment than from changing every setting at once.
